1001 Flat World Tales Begins!

12 03 2007

Today marks the first day of the first middle school 1001 Tales writing workshop! Our students have just been introduced to the project and will be working with students in Serbia and Canada to produce myths and legends for the alien king about Malaysia.

If you are a middle school teacher, and would like to be part of this workshop session, please let me know – we would love to have you join our group!

I am excited to keep an eye on how this goes. Justin and I are doing a collaborative wiki project with HS kids between Toronto and Bangkok. I’d love to get suggestions after this session on what works well in using and promoting student collaboration on it. I guess I can wait until you get here!

On a side note, there was a good article posted by the Economist on Wikipedia. Worth sharing with your teachers, perhaps? I posted on it on my blog as well.

Dennis,

I checked out your wiki – wow! You have really laid an amazing foundation for an exciting collaborative project. I’m definitely going to eavesdrop on your students conversations there ;) Thanks for the link to the Economist article! I just keep forwarding more and more material around school to keep the conversations going.
